We are currently looking to commission a few artists to help design our first video game.
We’ve assembled a small team and have been making steady progress producing art assets, interface design, and story. Unfortunately our lead programmer has grown increasingly pressed for time as he attempts to finish his PhD. (Who would have thought science could be so time consuming?)
We’ve been through several iterations of the game design, so what you see on our website might not be completely up-to-date. One recent decision we made was to switch from lower level Lua based game engine to Unity because cross-platform development with Unity is a lot more straightforward. Our game will be strictly 2D, so we are considering either Orthello or Futile, the choice is really up to you. We are looking for someone to head up the Unity development (Truman will provide support when he can). We are on a tight budget, so we are expecting something around 10 hours/week. The goal is to finish the alpha version by the end of this summer.
Deozoa is a turn based strategy monster catching game. We currently have over 65 completed monsters and over a dozen human characters drawn and ready for inclusion. We also have completed designs for the game interface, battle map, and some attack animations. Our art has been progressing rapidly – we just need help making more rapid progress with the programming.
You can find some samples of our monsters at http://deozoa.com/deozoa/ and an example of the background art at http://forums.deozoa.com/index.php?p=/discussion/25/sneak-peak-the-city-of-fica
